WordPress Development

Custom WordPress themes, plugin development, and builds that are easy for your team to manage not a tangle of page-builder shortcodes.

WordPress powers a huge share of the web for a reason. It’s flexible and your team can update content without calling a developer every time. The problem is most WordPress sites get built with a pile of plugins and page-builder bloat that slows everything down.

We build WordPress sites with a lighter footprint: custom themes where it makes sense, a sensible editing experience for your team, and only the plugins you actually need.

What’s Included

  • Custom theme development, or careful customization of an existing theme
  • Custom plugin development for functionality that off-the-shelf plugins can’t handle well
  • Editorial setup so your team can actually update the site without breaking it
  • Performance and security hardening
  • Migration from other platforms, or from a messy existing WordPress install
  • Ongoing maintenance, updates, and support

Who This Is For

Businesses that want the flexibility of WordPress without the usual plugin-bloat slowdown and want a site their own team can manage day-to-day.

How We Work

  1. Audit or Plan — For existing sites: a plugin/performance/security review to find what’s slowing things down. For new builds: content structure and editor-experience planning before any code.
  2. Scope & Quote — Fixed written scope. If we think you don’t need custom development — that a well-configured existing theme would do — we’ll say so.
  3. Staging Build — Everything happens on a staging copy. Your live site stays untouched until you approve.
  4. Editor Setup — We configure the block editor (or your preferred workflow) so your team can update pages without breaking layouts — the part most WordPress builds skip.
  5. Launch, Harden & Handover — Deploy, security hardening (login protection, updates strategy, backups), and a walkthrough of how to manage your own content.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WordPress site is slow. Can you fix it without rebuilding? Usually. The most common causes — bloated page builders, unoptimized images, too many plugins, cheap hosting — are all fixable incrementally. We audit first and only recommend a rebuild when patching genuinely costs more than starting over.

How many plugins is too many? It’s less about the count and more about the quality and overlap. We routinely replace 3-4 single-purpose plugins with a few lines of custom code, and we avoid plugins that inject their own page builders or tracking.

Will my team be able to edit the site? That’s the point of choosing WordPress. We set up editing so the common tasks — new page, new post, swap images, update text — are safe and obvious, and the fragile parts are locked down.

Do you handle WooCommerce? Yes, for stores that are committed to WordPress. If you’re starting an online store from scratch, we’ll often recommend Shopify instead — we’ll walk you through the tradeoffs honestly.
